Stress can have a significant impact on your health if you are under a lot of it. Stress is at the root of many diseases. Therefore, it is quite important to reduce it as much as possible to avoid getting sick, physically or mentally. Here are three ways to reduce stress via three scenarios to illustrate each one of them:

The first way to reduce stress is to change the situation if you can. Make a list of what you could change, how you plan on changing it and of the result you would like to achieve with that change. For example, you are living paycheck to paycheck, some bills are late, you don’t have a savings account. This financial situation is putting a great deal of stress on you. So, you begin monitoring your expenses to see where you can reduce your spending and create a budget you strictly follow.

The second way to reduce stress is to remove yourself from the situation or remove whatever or whoever is stressing you from your life. For example, you work in an environment where respect and trust are lost. There are no opportunities for advancement. So, you leave that job to work in a better and healthier environment.

The third way to reduce stress is to accept the situation. For example, your parents don’t like your lifestyle and every time you visit them they criticize it or try to convince you to change it even though this is how you are happy. So, you simply accept that your parents will never like your life choices and just keep living as you please.

To summarize, the three ways to reduce stress are removing yourself from the situation, changing it or accepting it. Don’t waste your time stressing over situations or people. Assess what is happening and decide your next move. Take action. Enjoy life and its challenges! This is how we grow.
