Elevation requires separation
In order to level up in life (in your relationships, your career, your health, your spirituality, etc), you need to separate yourself from whatever or whoever is holding you back. Elevation requires separation. What does that mean exactly? What do we need to separate from? Who do we need to separate from? Evaluate yourself, your life, your entourage. You will find the answers by observing how you behave, your surroundings and the situations in which you find yourself.
SEPARATION FROM HABITS
What habits are contributing to your growth? Which ones are keeping you from being a better version of yourself? Which ones are destroying your mind, body or soul? Make a list of the habits that you would like to remove or replace. Then, write down what you would like to do about each one of them. The habits holding you back must go. You deserve to move up, elevate, evolve and in order to do that, some habits must go or be replaced with better ones. Separate yourself from them. The beautiful future you envision for yourself is worth it. These habits (such as high consumption of processed food, too many hours a day scrolling through Facebook or Instagram, not sleeping enough, gossiping, negative self-talk, etc) may be impacting your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. Write a plan of how you will get rid of these habits and put that plan into action.
SEPARATION FROM LIMITING BELIEFS
What beliefs do you have about yourself that prevent you from taking action towards your goals and dreams? What beliefs do you have about love that influence your interactions with others negatively? What beliefs do you hold on to about money that rejects financial abundance in your life? What beliefs do you have about the world that discourage you from exploring it? What beliefs about men and women are preventing you from fully embracing their complementarity? What are your beliefs about the people you care about that are killing your relationship with them? Observe yourself, your thought process and how your thoughts affect the actions you take. This is how you will discover what your beliefs are. Make a list and check which ones are limiting you. Then, let go of them.
SEPARATION FROM PEOPLE
Pay attention to the people you surround yourself with. Pay attention to your energy after having spent time with a person or group of people. Are you feeling energized or do you feel drained? Are you feeling demoralized or do they lift up your spirit? Your entourage impacts you more than you think. Therefore, it is quite important to be selective about who you rub shoulders with. You may not be able to fully separate yourself from some people but you can reduce the amount of time you spend with them or the attention you give them. Otherwise, cut, cut, cut. Cut these good vibe killers out of your life, just like cutting dead leaves from a plant or trimming dead ends from your hair.
SEPARATION FROM OBJECTS
There are some objects in our lives that are just cluttering up our space or mind. As I have been gradually converting to minimalism, I realized how cumbersome some objects can be. Some can even be a hindrance to the flow of positive energy. I completely understand wanting to hold on to an object having sentimental value or memories but there is no need to keep everything. I find that it is more valuable to simply keep a few items, the ones that bring us joy. Joy is the key to knowing what to keep or get rid of.
I could keep on listing different categories of what we could separate from, in order to level up but I am sure you get the idea. I suggest you take some time to write down your own list of what you need to separate your body, mind, and soul from in order to elevate them towards your highest potential. You deserve joy and happiness so go on and give it to yourself.
