How to get things done when you are not mentally well: 3 tips
Are you feeling overwhelmed with everything you must (or would like to) get done? Are you going through a difficult phase in your life but still have work to complete, deadlines to meet, children to take care of, etc.? Here are my tips for getting things done when you are not feeling well:
Rest
Yes, rest! Even if you have a long to-do list, take some time to rest without guilt. Resting is always good and so important for the health of your mind, body, and soul. Resting helps to recharge your batteries, refreshes your mood and helps your body and mind to recover from physical and mental exhaustion. So, don’t hesitate to rest before attacking your to-do list. There are different ways to rest: taking a nap (even just a 15-minute nap), taking half a day off to do nothing, going to sleep earlier than usual, taking several days off to process the heavy emotions you are feeling. Choose the type of rest you deeply need or only can do, depending on your life situation.
Make a list and prioritize
On your list, only put the crucial or important tasks to complete. When you are not well you must be selective with where your energy goes. Give yourself permission to focus only on what matters the most.
Get 1 thing done at a time
From your list, choose 1 task to focus on. Get it done at your own pace so you can do it well. If you feel you can move on to the next task on your list, go ahead. If before this next task you need to rest a bit, go ahead. You are worth more than your productivity and you need to remember that, especially when you are not mentally well.
