Improve your relationship with yourself with this tip

Kind words are like honey, sweet to the soul and healthy for the body – Proverbs 16:24

Everything is energy, including words. Words are energy, capable of manifesting in physical form. Be mindful of the way you speak to yourself and about yourself. Even as a joke. Your soul and body do not know the difference. With your words, you are capable of speaking disease into a healthy body or to destroy a healthy mind.

POSITIVE SELF-TALK

Speaking kindly of yourself and to yourself is one of the quickest ways to improve the relationship with yourself. Pay attention to your inner dialogue, to how you speak about yourself to other people, to your reaction when receiving a compliment or praise or when you make a mistake. Stop being so hard on yourself. No one is perfect. We all have flaws, we all make mistakes, we all have some things we are not happy with. Be gentle with yourself.

If you catch yourself being negative, mean, degrading, insulting, stop yourself and switch to a positive, encouraging and reassuring voice. For example, let’s say, you are washing dishes and break a glass while doing so. Then, you start berating yourself: “I am always so clumsy, this is so typical of me, always making a mess, never doing anything right, I really suck.” When you notice this train of thoughts stop it in its tracks and replace it with something like “it’s okay, let’s clean this up and try not to break anything else.”

Another example is: when someone pays you a compliment you reject it, by minimizing yourself or replying with self-criticism, instead of accepting it with a smile and a thank you. Quick scenario, someone says: “The dish you cooked was so delicious and you reply: “It didn’t taste as I wanted. It was dry and a bit salty.” instead of replying with: “Thanks! I am glad you enjoyed it.”
