Trusting others by trusting yourself
Life is unpredictable and so are people. This is why it may be very hard for many people to trust life and others. However, I find that when we trust ourselves to do what is best for us in any given situation it is less hard to trust life and others. We are more open to taking risks, to love, to go into the unknown…even if we know there is a possibility of getting hurt or being disappointed.
It all starts with you. Your relationship with others begins with the relationship you have with yourself. Be aware of who you are, your likes and dislikes, your needs and limits. Accept who you are: everything about yourself, good and bad, strengths and weaknesses. Be self-reliant, protective of yourself and make yourself a priority (always).
When you know how to take care of your needs and respect your limits you build the trust in yourself to handle whatever life throws at you. You can trust yourself to get the resources you need to face challenges and disappointments.
Getting hurt is inevitable but trusting yourself to do something about it and cheer yourself up helps with going through it.
This is why I believe that you can trust others more if you trust yourself to have your own back, in all circumstances. It all starts with you…
