Adopt a new set of beliefs to level up your life

As an adult, you get to decide what beliefs about yourself you want to have and which ones to remove from your mindset. It’s similar to updating software on a computer. During the process, some things are removed, modified, or added to improve the software’s performance and features. You can do the same for your set of beliefs, which most of the time don’t come from you but from social programming from family, society, the media, etc.

How to define a new set of beliefs

Focus on one part of your life at a time, for example, finances, romantic relationships, health, or happiness. Then, list the different beliefs stored in your mind in that respective category. Think about each belief and about how it is limiting you from leveling up. This will help you define a new belief to repeat to yourself until it is integrated into your behavior. It’s really important to repeat this belief to yourself every single day. You can add a daily reminder on your smartphone for each new belief. Every time the reminder pops up consciously read the affirmation to yourself while taking deep breaths. Visualize how a person with the new belief behaves and align your actions with that. With time, at some point, you will start noticing how your behavior is reflecting this new set of beliefs, which in turn is leveling up your life.

Here is an example to illustrate

Person X is trying to adopt the belief “I respect my body” because they would like to be healthy and upgrade their level of well-being. They add the daily reminder that pops up every morning before breakfast. They read “I respect my body” every morning and repeat it several times while taking deep breaths. Throughout the day, they ask themselves if their action is aligned with that new belief and adjust if needed. After a while, their behavior is completely aligned with a person who respects their body.
